About LazyJ

Howdy ;)

I love french-press brewed coffee, donuts (any baked sweets will do), and I love Minetest.

One day, in the summer of 2012, during my random Internet wanderings of political and economic news, Linux how-tos, and any Linux alternatives to Windows stuff, I came across some strange, free, game called "Minetest".

"What kind of video game has no time limit, no levels, no 'bosses' to defeat, no score to keep track of, and does not require the reflexes of a hyper-active kid??"

So I downloaded, installed, and then tried Minetest out... for many hours!

I've been hooked ever since.

A couple years have gone by and now I find myself as an admin and server-op of LinuxGaming2.com's Minetest server, "LinuxGaming". Miner_48er and I, along with the other admins and moderators, have been working to cultivate LinuxGaming into a unique, stable, and long-term Minetest server.

As you can probably guess, "LazyJ Minetest" isn't my real name.

Maybe when I'm more comfortable with this whole "social media" thing I'll post my real name.

"LazyJ" is the name I am recognized by in the Minetest community.

The last name of "Minetest"??

Well,... in order to have a Google account you have to enter a first and last name so I chose "Minetest" since it was the most relevant.

Like I mentioned earlier, I'm not entirely comfortable with social media but I will throw out a few, little, tidbits about my real self:
  • I live in the USA, currently in the home state of Starbuck's and Microsoft;
  • I enjoy coffee so much that I have two different types of moka pots, two sizes of French presses, and an Aeropress;
  • of course nothing goes better with coffee than donuts, cakes, cookies, and pie;
  • like the stereotypical American, I can only speak English;
  • Nixon was still in office when I was a kid;
  • and the hair on top of my head has left and relocated to my eyebrows and beard.
  • Yup, I'm an old-fart and if you know the US state and the time period I refer to above, without looking them up, then you too are probably a little crusty around the edges.   ;)

About My Blog, "LazyJ's Minetest World"

My blog is a journal of my own journey in studying, learning, and improving my design skills, build skills, and over-all skills as an aspiring Minetest artisan. Along the way, perhaps others will be able to learn from what I've learned.

The blog is primarily about progressing and learning how to create nice things in Minetest. Occasionally there will be posts about other, Minetest related, stuff.

My blog is not geared towards geeks myopically obsessed with code. My blog is for people, like me, who appreciate craftsmanship more than calculus.

This blog is not for the uncouth. All comments will have to be approved by me first.

Censorship?

You bet.

Contact Info

Sure. I could post an email address but then it would quickly fill with spam and I would stop paying any attention to it anymore. So that nixes that idea.

Instead, let's try this:

If you want to contact me, you can reach me through a PM (Private Message) on Minetest.net's forums or Google Plus (click on the "About Me" or the "Google+ Badge" in the margins and either one will take you to my Google Plus page).

Privacy Policy

I've read it is recommended that blogs have a "privacy" policy or statement of some sort.

Ok, here we go:

As far as I'm concerned, your private matters are none of my business.

If anyone is bundling-up data from cookies and the information you provide in comments, and selling it off to other parties, it's Google, the NSA, and who knows how many other governments and their agencies.

This blog and everything that goes on in it is recorded by Google's systems.

Hey, this is Google's blogging platform after all!

So no matter what privacy policy I may have, it's all trumped by Google's policies.
